Luminar exists both as a standalone image editor as well as a plug-in for various image editors, including Lightroom. It is currently Mac-only, and is hoping to take on the big guns with its intuitive user interface and useful editing features. I find it is essential for more complicated projects. Luminar is a very new entry in the world of image editing. Pixinsight is extremely powerful but very geeky. ![]() But it does not matter what you shoot landscapes or flowers, animals or still-life Helicon Focus will make your images stand out. ![]() Apparently Sequator handles colour data very well too but looses out over DSS in terms of sharpness. Best Image Stacking Software Nowadays micro photography, close-ups, jewelry and product photography became truly dependent on focus stacking. However I also use Pixinsight to stack OSC data (aka colour data) because Gary Palmer told me that Pixinsight handles colour data with all its annoying bayer patterns better than both APP and DSS. APP is also brilliant at mosaics and very useful when stacking the multitude of stacked images produced by different scopes from the BAT. It is simply the easiest and quickest to use. I started out using DSS but now use APP for most of my stacking.
